Summary: | An input/output technique was developed to interface between integrated circuit computers and simulation systems. Four general types of signals are processed by this input/output system: discrete inputs, discrete outputs, analog inputs, and analog outputs. This study has determined that integrated circuits are readily adaptable to performing the digital functions in the input/output system, but the analog signal conversion requirements of these systems are not within present linear integrated circuit capabilities. It is anticipated that the linear integrated circuit development will have progressed to the point of making integrated circuit converters feasible within the next year. The basic system requirements and the overall system requirements and the overall system design technique for an input/output system are discussed in detail. (Author) |
