Summary:Various types of engraving substrate materials are comparatively evaluated, and it is concluded that: (1) temperature control is more important to precise plate dimensions then is humidity control; (2) polyesters have better deformation properties than polyvinyl chlorides; (3) glass which has the best deformation properties, does not allow direct engraving from an underlaid original and copying through the substrate.
