description The strength of silica gel lubricants prepared with highly purified oils thickened by hydrophobic and nonhydrophobic silica gel is reduced with an increase in temperature. For the same type of lubricants based on nonhydrophobic SiO2 the change in strength with an increase in the oleic acid concentration has an extremal character with maxima at an oleic acid concentration of 0.5%. The addition of oleic acid lubricants based on hydrophobic silica gel leads to a reduction in the lubricant strength at all temperatures except 120C. At this temperature an extremal dependence with a maximum at an oleic acid concentration of 0.1% is observed. The temperature dependence of the lubricant strength carries an extremal character with a maximum at temperatures ranging from 50 to 120C for lubricants based on low-purity oils, and also for lubricants based on highly purified oils with additions of oleic acid.
