Summary:The study proposes a method for the direct experimental estimation of the rate of thermal flow. Consider a body consisting of a moderately size core - the calorimeter and its removable housing with good heat insulating properties tightly fitting on all sides. On opening the housing, with a blow, one brings the calorimeter out of the state of thermal equilibrium, and then again replace its housing. The subsequent process can be regarded as the cooling of the calorimeter in a medium with constant temperature and constant heat transfer coefficient, proportional to the thermal inertia at the core-insulation interface.
