Summary: | Under laboratory conditions, the authors checked the possibility of mixing of the furnace and nitrose gases of a sulfuric acid plant as well as the possibility of nitrose denitration using the gases from the contact apparatus for ammonia oxidation. It was found that the mixing of gases can be used under the conditions when the gas emitted from the furnace section of the sulfuric acid manufacture is highly concentrated (for example, when burning the sulfur). In this case diluting the furnace gas with the nitrose gas will lower the sulfur dioxide concentration to the norm but the intensity of SO2 oxidation will increase. The denitration of nitrose by the gases from the contact apparatus is impractical because this creates conditions which are less favorable for the water absorption of nitrogen oxides.
