Summary: | Different formulae have been proposed by various authors for the computation of heat-flow across the air/sea interface. Some of these formulae are examined in order to decide which ones to use for hourly heat-budget computations from meteorological observations made in the Norwegian Sea during MILOCSURVNORLANT. A comparison of these formulae indicates the inaccuracies to be expected from computing hourly heat flow using meteorological records. Formulae are selected to compute solar altitude and to compute dew point, humidity, and vapour pressure from dry and wet bulb readings. (Author) |
