Summary: | A computer programming system has been used to implement a Boolean logic scheme for predicting high and low disease potential for Rocky Mountain spotted fever in the western United States. Inputs to the system were attributes for the counties taken from the 'National Atlas of the United States'. With the computer decision rules, it was possible to some extent to substitute one kind of input data for another. The system offered moderately good tolerance for missing data and could give good predictions even in the face of simulated substantial practical difficulties. (Modified author abstract)
