Description
Summary:The report studies the seismic waves which are emitted directly from the explosion center: High-frequency longitudinal wave P, long-period longitudinal wave P sub L, and surface wave R. A concentrated charge of chemical explosives is always used to excite these waves. The parameters of the waves P, P sub L, and R from this type of simple charge are, aside from being significant in themselves, necessary for calculating more complex charges (dispersed, short-delay, etc.). For example, it is shown that soil vibrations from linearly dispersed charges represent a superimposition of the vibrations from the passing of waves of individual concentrated charges. In the last section of the present work it is apparent that the parameters of direct waves are also needed for calculating the intensity of reflected waves.
