Description
Summary:The significance of matrix compositions has been studied relation to the fatiguecharacteristics of glass-filament- ound reinforced plastics. Evidence indicatesthat water, as compared with air, severely limits the dynamic fatigue life of FRPepoxy. It is suggested that a relationship may exist between matrix degradationand the time-dependent response of the composite material to dynamic stresses.A new, very-water-resistant epoxy resin is shown to increase the reliability ofFRP by 200 to 300% in comparison with an equivalent state-of-the-art compositionexposed to the same type of stress and environmental conditions.
