Summary: | As part of the on-going research program in 'Decision Control Models in Operation Research', this paper has investigated the behavior of multi-person organizations facing risky investment decisions, such as expenditures on research and development. The path-breaking analysis examines the impact of several different organizational designs, with their implied means of decentralization. The work also focusses on the impact of limited information and the way that it is shared among decision makers. The mathematical approach adapted in the paper enables one to determine fundamental insights about organizational structure within a general framework that permits comparative analyses. |
