Description
Summary:Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to establish the microstructural effects of various multistage aging treatments on aluminum alloy 7075. DSC was used to characterize the matrix microstructure while TEM was used to characterize the grain boundary precipitates. The aging treatments were in five categories: isochronal pre- aging, isothermal pre-aging, final again at 150 C , commercial type two-stage aging treatments, and retrogression and re-aging (RRA) treatments.
