Summary: | This report summarizes plans for technical aspects, facility design, equipment and personnel requirements, and quality assurance for a full service mammalian toxicology testing facility. The technical plan identifies the business organization, testing requirements, and a generalized scheme for implementing the testing capability. The facility plan covers the facility's design and construction details. A modular approach was used to allow design flexibility and to establish capability options. Equipment requirements were established for each of the facility's modules. Cost, size, capacity, and special requirements were specified for each item. Specific personnel requirements, recruitment and personnel development are examined. The quality assurance plan covers protocol and procedure development and outlines responsibilities of the personnel. A resource plan integrates inputs from each of the above plans to determine full utilization testing costs and equipment and facility costs. Options for facility locations are examined and advantages and disadvantages of building a new facility versus renovating an existing facility are compared.
