Laser Spectroscopy of Propellant-Like Flames

The laser-based techniques Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy (CARS) and Spontaneous Raman Scattering have been applied to studies of the detailed chemistry of premixed flames. The status of this research effort and its future goals in gun propulsion research are discussed.
