Summary: | This report describes the effects of propagation disturbances on space-based synthetic aperture radars (SAR). Using a model developed earlier, we performed simulations to show the distortion of the radar ambiguity function for the SEASAT-A SAR. For moderate disturbance, an elevated sidelobe level causes a reduction in contrast. The SEASAT-A library of high-latitude data showed examples of this effect, one example of which is analyzed here in detail. |
