Description
Summary:This study is an examination of forced posture changes by combat units. From information gathered from the literature, historical research, and focused discussion groups of veterans, a list of factors associated with such changes of combat posture was compiled. A model of forced posture changes suitable for incorporation into a ground combat model was developed. Two sets of model parameters were derived from historical data. One set is suitable for use in divisional-level engagements and one set for use at the regimental level. The average success rate of correct posture change identification in the historical engagements is 80%. Keywords: Breakpoint, Combat posture change, Combat model, Combat narratives.
