Summary: | The performance of pulmonary artery (PA) pressure measurement and the use of the hemodynamic data provided by the catheter system require that critical care nurses have an extensive knowledge base. The purpose of this study were to describe critical care nurses' knowledge and ability to utilize information related to PA pressure measurement, and to determine the differences in relevant demographic data with respect to the mastery of this information a criterion referenced, self administered test concerning PA pressure measurement in a critically ill patient and a demographic data sheet were designed and sent to 1,000 members of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) who were distributed evenly throughout 19 geographic regions in the United States. A total of 181 responses were analyzed. |
