Summary: | This paper describes research conducted to examine the feasibility of using the fisheye concept to present complex diagrams and illustrations for use by Air Force maintenance personnel. Under the fisheye concept, the user is able to select for viewing those portions of graphics or subgraphics in which he is most interested. These items are presented in more detail while surrounding items of less interest are presented in less detail. The research demonstrated that the fisheye concept can be applied to present technical data for use in Air Force maintenance. However, it was noted that further study id needed to evaluate the relative effectiveness of the fisheye approach and other information presentation techniques to support maintenance activities. |
