Summary: | This report summarizes a literature review of the effectiveness of wetlands for enhancing wastewater quality. Results from the review were categorized by the type of wastewater (i.e., municipal domestic, storm water, industrial, agricultural, and mining) and wetland (i.e., natural and constructed). For each type of wastewater and wetland, the following constituents were addressed: suspended solids, nutrients, heavy metals, toxic organic materials, and other constituents (e.g., bacteria and pathogens). The report also contains a bibliography of the most pertinent literature categorized by wastewater type. Each literature citation includes an abstract.
