Description
Summary:There is a considerable history associated with the use of centrifuge models to achieve realistic data of soil behaviour, including the phenomenon of liquefaction. In this work, the development of an experimental program to establish a database of the behaviour of level saturated sand beds under earthquake shaking is discussed, and a method for the interpretation of the data in terms of conventional design parameters is demonstrated. A review meeting of technical specialists has been held at Waterways Experiment Station to discuss the proposed experimental program and method of analysis, and this has provided strong endorsement of the approach.
