Description
Summary:The objective of this project is to provide DoD and DOE with ecological models that address issues in management of large land areas. During FY 1997, work was completed on evaluation of our habitat models for limestone glades/cedar barrens, Henslow's sparrow, and cerulean warbler. The territorial migrant bird model was modified to interface with the Integrated Dynamic Landscape Analysis and Modeling System at Fort Riley, Kansas. Work was begun on regional population dynamics models of red-cockaded woodpecker across the southern United States and of Karner blue butterfly at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. One paper is in press and two have been submitted to open literature journals. Our SERDP work was presented at four national and international scientific meetings and at two national DoD conferences. Prepared in cooperation with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
