Summary: | The Simulation Concept - How to Exploit Tools for Computing Hybrids (SCHETCH) project is exploring the design modeling and simulation (M&S) process for developing advanced computing technology for future intelligent systems. The desire is to integrate new alternative computing concepts with existing silicon-based computing technology in hybrid computing architectures. This interim report documents what progress has been made during the first two years of the effort. Literature reviews, past modeling and simulation experience, and current first hand modeling and simulation experience were all leveraged for this project. During this effort several alternative computing concepts were examined. A modeling and simulation process for the design and development of hardware implementation of alternative computing concepts was defined. Commercially available software was found to be applicable in the examination of components of quantum computing concepts. This success is being transitioned to support other in-house efforts pursuing quantum computing. Technology gaps were identified.
