Summary: | The joint goal of the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) and the Commander, Meteorology and Oceanography Command (CNMOC) is to develop a capability to describe diver visibility and vulnerability, and demonstrate how new, innovative technology allows a better 3D/4D representation of the optical field for Navy applications. The new technology that is explored in this research is the use of self-contained, small portable optical/ biological/chemical moorings. These data will be used to validate and/or improve visibility and vulnerability estimates for operational scenarios.
