Description
Summary:The Marine Corps began the most comprehensive logistics reform to date in 2005-Logistics Modernization. However, 4th MLG remained in functionally aligned battalions pending further structure and organization analysis. The MLG reorganization effort remains iterative, meaning as new requirements or organizational capabilities are identified by the operating forces, efforts will be made to improve MLG organization to best support the MAGTF. Despite significant differences in the mission of the AC and RC MLGs, recent employment and emerging missions necessitate changes in the organizational structure of 4th MLG. This paper examines the historical context of the total force, the organizational evolution of Marine Corps logistics, capability assessment of the MLGs, and emerging roles and responsibilities of 4th MLG in particular.
