Summary: | This report describes the work carried out under grant number N00014-12-1-0373 Hydroacoustics of Beveled Steps and Gaps at Florida Atlantic University. The project was in collaboration with Dr. William Devenport of Virginia Tech, who has carried out wind tunnel measurements on the steps and obstructions described in this report as part of a companion project. The overall objective of this study is to measure and predict the sound radiation from steps and gaps on large pales excited by turbulent boundary layers. Results are given showing the methods used to calculate the far field noise levels and how this is related to the boundary layer turbulence associated with different types of step. |
