Summary:The purpose of this paper is to document the 1982 DA Survey of Personnel Entering the ARmy and to introduce this survey to the military manpower community. Because of the brevity required for this forum, it is impossible to do justice to the full scope of results obtained from this survye effort. Thus we focus in this paper on the development and administration of the survey rather than on the results. The results included in this paper are meant only to be suggestive of the possible scope of questions which can be addressed in surveys of this type.
