Description
Summary:An interesting article (three-quarters of a column in length) on Abduction in Systems Biology includes an explanation of how a bioinformatics application of induction has been reported (2006) concerning the modelling of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) drug resistance, and using it in order to assist medical practitioners in the selection of antiretroviral drugs for patients infected with HIV. [...]as one with knowledge of the field, I appreciate that game playing and strategy games are part of the history and study of machine learning (Who can forget the film War Games, 1983, director John Badham – with the Global Thermonuclear War being postponed whilst the war game computer reverted to babyhood and played tic-tac-toe [US] or noughts and crosses [UK]?) The first heading should be Machine Learning. Apart from my criticisms, I am sure that this detailed work will be useful for students studying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its related fields, natural language processing (NLP), human-machine interface, logic and other areas of computing where big data and machine learning are needed.
