Summary:Studies were conducted under Zonal Yield Trial test stages (ZYT-I, ZYT-II & ZYT-III) at BSRI farm to screen promising clones for gur manufacture. BSRI developed promising Sugarcane clones along with one variety Isd 35 (standard) were tested for maturity behaviour and quality gur manufacture during 2001-04 cropping seasons. Among clones tested, clones I 131-97 and 1202-97 were observed as early maturing potential and I 164-95 and I 137-96 were mid maturing potential. The higher pol % cane and comparatively lower reducing sugars percent were recorded in clone I 131-97 and I 202-97. The physical and chemical properties of gur of tested clones were evaluated, and superior quality of gur was obtained in the clone I 137-96.
