Summary:Six objectives of the Task Force on Blood Pressure Control in Children and its recommendations are reported. Other topics discussed include: methodology and instrumentation for blood pressure measurement in infants and children; standards for children's blood pressure; evaluation of children and infants with elevated blood pressure and guidelines for detecting such children; treatment; and mechanisms and causes of hypertension. Appendices show the number of subjects, sex, and mean systolic blood pressure in children aged 2 to 18. Several charts and graphs are included.
