Sacraments and Disease in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, 1648-1727
Patch postulates that measles was probably the cause of high death rates in Merida Yucatan Mexico during 1726-27. He uses sacramental records to differentiate between the epidemic of that season and the yellow fever epidemics that broke out between 1648 and 1709.
