Summary: | OBJECTIVES The aim of the study was to establish the value of E-cadherin, Calretinin and GLUT-1 antibodies in serous effusions in the differential diagnosis of malignant mesothelioma, reactive mesothelial proliferation and adenocarcinoma using immunocytochemical method. METHODS The study group consisted of the cell blocks from 60 patients, with 20 in each of the three groups. Immunocytochemistry staining method was applied to the sections prepared from the cell blocks of the selected cases. RESULTS In this study, strong expression of E-cadherin antibody in adenocarcinoma, strong expression of Calretinin antibody in mesothelioma and reactive mesothelial proliferation, and strong expression of GLUT-1 antibody in mesothelioma and adenocarcinoma were established. CONCLUSION The results of the present study revealed that E-cadherin antibody can be successfully used as a marker for the differentiation of adenocarcinoma from mesothelioma and reactive mesothelial proliferation, Calretinin antibody can be used for the differentiation of mesothelioma and reactive mesothelial proliferation from adenocarcinoma, and GLUT-1 antibody can be used for the differentiation of adenocarcinoma and mesothelioma from reactive mesothelial proliferation. AMAC Bu calismada, seroz efuzyonlarda malign mezotelyoma, reaktif mezotelyal proliferasyon ve adenokarsinom ayiriminda E-kaderin, Kalretinin ve GLUT-1 antikorlarinin Immunsitokimyasal yontemle ekspresyonu arastirildi. GEREC VE YONTEM Calisma grubunu herbir gruptan 20, toplamda 60 hastadan elde edilen hucre blogu materyali olusturdu. Secilen uygun olgulardan elde edilen hucre blogu materyalinden hazirlanan kesitlere Immunsitokimyasal boyama yontemi uygulandi. BULGULAR Calismamizda elde edilen bulgulara gore, E-kaderin antikorunun adenokarsinomda, Kalretinin antikorunun mezotelyoma ve reaktif mezotel hucre proliferasyonunda, GLUT-1 antikorunun ise mezotelyoma ve adenokarsinomda guclu ekspresyonu saptandi. SONUC Bulgular sonucunda E-kaderin antikorunun adenokarsinomun mezotelyoma ve reaktif mezotel hucre proliferasyonundan ayrilmasinda; Kalretinin antikorunun mezotelyoma ve reaktif mezotel hucre proliferasyonunun adenokarsinomdan ayrilmasinda; GLUT-1 antikorunun ise adenokarsinom ve mezotelyomanin reaktif mezotel hucre proliferasyonundan ayrilmasinda kullanilabilecek markerlar oldugu gosterilmistir.
