Description
Summary:3-O-benzyl-1,2-O-isopropylidene-xylopentadialdose has emerged as structurally new antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent. Therefore, various substituted bis-indolyl- (3-O-benzyl-1,2-O-isopropylidene-xylopentadialdose glucofuranose) derivatives were synthesized by addition of substituted xylopentadialdose with various substituted indoles. The structures of the synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, and mass spectroscopy techniques. All the synthesised compounds showed maximum zone of inhibition againt both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms. In the anti-inflammatory activity test, three compounds ( 1 , 3 and 5 ) produced significant activity in a dose-dependent manner.
