Summary:The clerodane-type diterpenoid 5 S ,8 R ,9 R ,10 R ,12 S -15,16-epoxy-3,13(16),14-neoclerodatrien-17,12:18,19diolide was isolated during a chemical study of the aerial part of the terrestrial plant Galatella punctata . Its structure was elucidated using IR, PMR, and 13 C NMR spectroscopy. The crystal and molecular structure of this diterpene was determined by an x-ray crystal structure analysis; the absolute configuration, by optical circular dichroism.
