Summary:The criterion for the assessment of the limiting state of rail steel under the action of electric current pulses is proposed and substantiated. The condition of equality between the values of offset yield stress of cyclically operated material with subsequent action of electric current pulses and the minimum level of the yield strength of steel specified in the regulatory documents is proposed to use as the limiting state criterion.
