Summary: | We study the physicochemical characteristics of the surface hardened layers of VT1-0 commercially pure titanium after thermodiffusion saturation with nitrogen within the temperature range 650-750°C. It is shown that nitriding at these temperatures guarantees the degree of surface hardening of up to 17.0 GPa and the depth of the hardened layer of up to 80 µm. It is shown that the decrease in the partial pressure of nitrogen and the application of additional vacuum annealing guarantee the effect of softening of the subsurface hardening of VT1-0 titanium. |
