Description
Summary:This study investigates the sustainability of information posted by the 2012 Fortune 500 corporations on their respective websites, and information reporting submitted to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Data collected from the GRI searchable database and analyzed, indicate the size of the corporation is a significant influence on GRI report, Carbon Disclosure Project reporting and ISO certification. Using the R-K Greenness Index developed by the authors, the sustainable actions reported on corporate websites are classified by stages of greenness. Results found significant differences in the level of the R-K Greenness Index based upon industry and size of the corporation. Further review of website information investigated the ease of access to sustainability information. The researchers found that corporate sustainability information is reasonably accessible and easy to find.
