Summary: | At Wichita State University (WSU), the Instructional Design and Access (IDA) office supports faculty with instructional design, educational technology, faculty training, and accessibility needs. The university uses Blackboard as its Learning Management System (LMS), and the IDA team members are administrators of this LMS. The IDA team also supports faculty and all instructional staff with institutionally licensed, third-party tools that integrate with Blackboard. While it is helpful to have the technology tools to create more interactive online and technology-enhanced courses, technology often poses challenges as faculty explore the best practices for implementation. Inevitably, these tools will also have functionality issues, and instructors get further frustrated when that happens. Despite the challenges faced, WSU was able to provide multiple training opportunities and close follow-up with instructors in a comfortable and adaptive environment. |
