Description
Summary:The Dudley and Cruise Religious Maturity Scale attempts to measure Allport’s mature religious sentiment. A sample of students from two historically Black Universities was used to test the scale’s reliability. Reliability estimates matching those observed by Dudley and Cruise were obtainable only with the private school data. The 11-item scale was revised and stronger reliability estimates were obtained with an 8-item scale. Factor analysis was employed to test for subscale dimensions. Two factors were identified. Questions concerning the scale’s construction, meaning, and use were addressed.
