Summary: | To perform a complete chemical analysis of two Algerian bentonites Mag and Mos, k.sub.0-NAA and WDXRF techniques were used. The concentration values of thirty seven elements including ten rare earth elements (REE) have been determined. The k.sub.0-NAA results indicate that the concentration of trace elements is respectively 290 and 285 mg/kg for Mag and Mos. The content of REE is greater in Mos 176 mg/kg than in Mag 87 mg/kg. The values of SiO.sub.2/Al.sub.2O.sub.3 in Mos and Mag were found to be 4.5 and 2.8 respectively. The high proportion of transition elements in Mag (38%) shows a more reductive character compared to Mos (29%). In addition Mag is more affected by anthropogenic activity than Mos due to content of As and Sb. |
