Summary: | --The Geotechnology market witnesses a remarkable increase in the adoption of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) in topographic surveys. This phenomenon is driven by various predominant factors, notably the substantial increase in operational efficiency, with the potential to enhance productivity by up to 80%, and the consequent reduction in associated costs. In this context, a critical question arises: in urban applications that require highly accurate topographic surveys, can RPAs be employed in the production of Geospatial Information? The primary purpose of this study is to address this question by evaluating the altimetric accuracy of RPAs in urban topographic surveys, using the cartographic quality control method established by Decree-Law No. 89,817/1984, known as the Cartographic Accuracy Standard for Digital Cartographic Products (PEC-PCD), in conjunction with the Technical Specifications for the Acquisition of Vector Geospatial Data (ET- ADGV). The aerophotogrammetric survey conducted with RPAs in the designated urban area is followed by specific photogrammetric procedures, and the resulting topographic products are subjected to the application of Decree-Law 89,817 and ET-ADGV. In this context, the topographic products, classified as Class C at a 1:1,000 scale with a contour interval of 2 meters, are emphasized in this study. Therefore, this work underscores the significance and necessity of applying Decree-Law No. 89,817 in the quality control of topographic products generated by RPAs, as well as the essential technical precautions to achieve a more precise classification.
