Summary:Electronic banking networks and banking industry officials believe that the number of point-of-sale transactions will reach 450 million per month by the year 2000. Between Jun 1992 and Jun 1993, the use of point-of-sale transactions increased by 38%. Also, the installation rate of point-of-sale terminals increased by 64.6% in the year ending Jun 1993. Bankers agree that electronic banking networks will be responsible for public acceptance of the terminals, and brand identity will become an important issue.
