Summary: | •Model of the distribution of steel fibre within a composite space was presented.•The steel fibre distribution model was based on statistical grounds.•The model accounts for the settling of fibres.•The influence of steel fibre addition on selected properties of composites was determined.
The article presents the results of studies on selected properties of fine-grained mineral aggregates containing various amounts of steel fibres. Sand, a waste product of obtaining mineral aggregates for concrete, was used in the production of a fine-grained composite. A model for the distribution of steel fibres within such a composite (SFRC) was constructed and based on the fundamentals of statistics. It accounts for the settling of steel fibres in a fine aggregate concrete mixture which occurs as a result of the technological conditions under which the composite is produced. |
