Summary: | We have seen a greater adherence of individuals in gyms, and in view of the intimate relationship between exercise and nutrition, should be emphasized to caloric intake of individuals who adopt this practice This study aimed to evaluate the intake of macronutrients (carbohydrates, lipids and proteins) in users of gyms in the city of Pau dos Ferros/RN. This descriptive research in their sample had an number of 118 individuals aged between 18 and 30 years, which corresponds to approximately 35% of users of that city academies. The used instrument for data collection was the 24-hour Food Recall, besides questions about supplementation. For statistical test, we applied the ANOVA. Of the 118 interviewed, 59 (50%) have hypoglycemic diet, 72 (61%) achieved diet and 74 (63%) have hyperproteic diet, where men consume more protein than women. A total of 59 (50%) not using supplements. In the group studied, it was found that men (61, 7%) are more adept to supplements than women (38.3%). With relation to the macronutrients intake among men and women that ingest supplement, both showed hypoglycemic diet; normolipidica and hyperproteic, being amino acids and proteins the most consumed (34%), where the majority (37%) showed muscle hypertrophy as main goal. Therefore, from this study we can conclude that users of gyms in Pau dos Ferros have a deficient diet in carbohydrates, and on the other hand, there is the excessive intake of protein. Tem-se verificado uma maior adesao de individuos em academias de ginastica, e tendo em vista a intima relacao entre exercicio fisico e nutricao, deve-se dar enfase a ingestao calorica dos individuos que dessa pratica adotam. Este estudo objetivou avaliar a ingestao de macronutrientes (carboidratos, lipidios e proteinas) em usuarios de academias de ginastica do municipio de Pau dos Ferros/RN. Esta pesquisa descritiva teve em sua amostra um n de 118 individuos com faixa etaria entre 18 a 30 anos, o que corresponde, aproximadamente, a 35% dos usuarios de todas as academias do referido municipio. O instrumento utilizado para a coleta de dados foi o Recordatorio Alimentar de 24 horas, alem de perguntas sobre suplementacao. Para teste estatistico, aplicouse o teste ANOVA. Dos 118 entrevistados, 59 (50%) apresentam dieta hipoglicemica; 72 (61%) obtiveram dieta normolipidica e 74 (63%) possuem dieta hiperproteica, onde os homens consomem mais proteinas do que as mulheres.
