Summary: | The purpose of the present study is the application and validation of a MBI-GS (Maslach Burnout Inventory) scale and its three dimensions (exhaustion, cynicism and efficacy at work) in a Brazilian public hospital using collaborators in medical and administrative area as target audience, thus justifying the use of the General Survey version. The scope of this study is to investigate the relationship between health and Burnout (its dimensions). The sample considered for the analysis performed was 173 respondents. Data were subjected to multivariate data analysis, including structural equation modeling and hypothesis testing. The results indicate the applicability of the scale, as well as its validation. The range of ideal indexes to scale validation was obtained by excluding two variables; thus, the scale presented 14 variables and three factors. The MBI-GS showed an excellent reliability (0.87). The relationship between burnout syndrome and perceived health was confirmed, being directly and inversely proportional to emotional exhaustion, indirect and inversely proportional to cynicism and indirectly proportional to effectiveness at work. The article contributes to the study of burnout in Brazil with the validation of MBI-GS and proposes the existence of relationship between Burnout and a new construct. |
