Summary:Introduction: Among the various types of supplements for different types of goals creatine stands out as one of the types that are widely used in bodybuilding gyms. Aim: To evaluate the use of creatine in strength exercises bodybuilding gyms in the city of Caruaru, Pernambuco. Methods: Cross-sectional study, descriptive methodology with practitioners of strength exercises in gyms through a field survey. It was used a survey for data collection. Results e Discussion: The sample consisted of 115 bodybuilders most are male, between 18 and 25 years. Regarding the indication of the consumption of creatine, most individuals were instructed by the instructor, followed by self indication. In relation to the time of use, the highest percentage of consumers is less than three months. The main goal of the vast majority of practitioners highlighted the hypertrophy and increased strength. Most consumers notice a beneficial effects related to the use of creatine, (86.1%). Conclusions: In this study, creatine supplementation associated with the practice of weight training seems to be effective in providing hypertrophy and increased strength, the evidence is not definitive or is incomplete to indicate that the practice of consuming creatine brings health risks, which does not make safe use. Introducao: Dentre os diversos tipos de suplementos, para os diversos tipos de objetivos, a creatina destaca-se como sendo um dos tipos que sao largamente utilizados em academias de musculacao. Objetivo: Avaliar o consumo de creatina em praticantes de exercicios de forca em academias da cidade de Caruaru, Pernambuco. Materiais e Metodos: Estudo do tipo transversal, descritivo, com praticantes de exercicios de forca em academias de musculacao, atraves de uma pesquisa de campo. Foi utilizado um questionario auto aplicavel para a coleta dos dados. Resultados e Discussao: A amostra foi composta por 115 praticantes de musculacao, a maioria foi do sexo masculino (78,26%), entre 18 e 25 anos (58,26%) e assalariados. Quanto a indicacao do consumo de creatina, a maior parte dos individuos receberam orientacoes por parte dos instrutores, seguido de auto indicacao. Em relacao ao tempo de uso, o maior percentual dos consumidores da creatina consomem a menos de 3 meses (36,52%).
