Summary:Terminologia Anatomica also refers to the third fibular muscle as third peroneal muscle, with an A04.7.02.039 code. The three fibular muscles originate from the fibula with short and third fibular muscles inserted in the fifth metatarsal. The long fibular muscle, inserts on the medial cuneiform and first metatarsal. The third fibular muscle passes under the extensor retinaculum, contributes to upper ankle joint dorsi flexion and like other fibular muscles to eversion of the foot. It is proposed to rename the third fibular muscle, minimum fibular muscle, as the term harmonizes with names of the long and short fibular muscles, in reference to size and location of muscle, bone, vascular and nerve structures in the region, in accordance with indications noted Terminologia Anatomica. PALABRAS CLAVE: Third fibular muscle; Minimum fibular muscle; Terminologia Anatomica. Terminologia Anatomica tambien denomina al musculo fibular tercero como musculo peroneo tercero, con el codigo A04.7.02.039. Los tres musculos fibulares tienen su origen en la fibula y se insertan los musculos fibulares corto y tercero en el 5[degrees] metatarsiano y el musculo fibular largo en el cuneiforme medial y base del 1er hueso metatarsiano. El musculo fibular tercero pasa detras del retinaculo de los extensores, contribuye a la dorsiflexion de la articulacion talocrural y al igual que los otros musculos fibulares, a la eversion del pie. Se propone modificar la denominacion del musculo fibular tercero por musculo fibular minimo, ya que el termino armoniza con los nombres de los musculos fibulares largo y corto, que aluden al tamano y a la ubicacion del musculo, estructuras oseas, vasculares y nerviosas de la region, en concordancia con las indicaciones que senala Terminologia Anatomica.
