Summary:A series of (3,3-dialkyl-6,7-diethoxy-3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-1(2H)-ylidene)acetamide hydrochlorides were synthesized via Ritter cyclocondensation of 1,1-(R.sup.1).sub.2-2-(3,4-diethoxyphenyl)ethanols with N-R.sup.2-N-R.sup.3 cyanacetamides (R.sup.1 = Me, Et; NR.sup.2R.sup.3 = NH.sub.2, NHMe, pyrrolidine, piperidine, hexamethyleneimine, morpholine). The obtained hydrochlorides were tested for antiarrhythmic activity (calcium chloride model). Five of eleven compounds showed significant antiarrhythmic activity with a maximum antiarrhythmic index (AI) of 13.9. Ten of eleven compounds proved to be hemostatics with the most active compound increasing blood coagulation by 32.2%. Six compounds exceeded pyrantel in anthelmintic activity. Four compounds exhibited larvicidal (insecticidal) effects that reduced larvae lifespans to 16.8 - 25.0 min, which exceeded the effect of imidacloprid (43.5 min).
