Description
Summary:This article seeks to analyze and revalue boredom as a concept through Mark Fisher's cultural critique of the consumption of stimuli and some of the developments of Byung-Chul Han's social theories (particularly his theory of Positive Society). The aim of this relationship is to provide the basis for a theoretical proposal in the field of aesthetics that allows us to suggest a revaluation of boredom as a treatment to the consumption of stimuli and as a necessary condition for the life of human beings. For doing so, this text will be divided into five parts: (i) introduction to the current conditions of stimuli consumption; (ii) history of boredom through Western thought; (iii) characterization and revaluation of boredom nowadays; (iv) proposal of boredom as an aesthetic treatment, and (v) conclusion.
