Summary: | The aim of this paper is to describe the meme as one of the discursive micro-actions articulated in the mediation of reality, whose specific subjective effect is contagion. We resort to a comparative analysis between the risks of fabricating the digital world assumed by homo digitalis; and the risks of fabricating the underground world assumed by the individuals in Fragments of a Future History, a literary work by Gabriel Tarde (2014). Thus, under the guidance of actor-network theory (LATOUR, 2019), we argue that the meme, far from being a post, an image, a joke, or the remix thereof, though it crosses all these as a homogeneous network, is a continent of discourse; it is a language response to a problem concerning the creation and maintenance of groups in the socio-technical conditions of digital relations. |
