Summary: | Dengue fever is a viral ailment mostly found in tropical and sub-tropical communities. Dengue fever is spread by the mosquito Aedes aegypti. According to WHO reports, more than 12,000 people perish because of this disease yearly. At present, there is no officially certified drug for the cure of dengue. Dengue virus (DENV) holds four distinct serotypes and hence the development of a single molecule effective against all these types is a difficult task. Various new molecules have been developed against DENV. In this review, we have summarised new chemical scaffolds that have been tested against DENV. New molecules addressed in this review can be considered as a lead compound for upcoming drug development against DENV. |
