description Numerical simulation of fluid flow is an essential tool in engineering and applied sciences, allowing for detailed analysis of complex phenomena that are difficult to study experimentally. This work investigates the behavior of a mixture of two immiscible liquids in a cavity, using the TwoLiquidMixingFoam solver from the OpenFOAM software. The motivation for this study lies in the importance of liquid mixture dynamics in various industrial applications, such as chemical engineering, food processing, and wastewater treatment. The methodology included defining the geometry of the simulation domain, specifying the physical properties of the fluids, and performing mesh analysis to ensure adequate spatial resolution. Initial and boundary conditions were established based on typical scenarios from the literature. The TwoLiquidMixingFoam solver used the Volume of Fluid (VOF) method to capture the interface between the liquids, providing an accurate representation of interfacial behavior. The results were analyzed with a focus on the convergence of residuals and the visualization of velocity fields. Convergence graphs showed a decreasing trend in residuals over time, indicating that the simulation reached a steady state. The 2D and 3D visualizations of velocity vectors and streamlines revealed characteristic flow patterns, providing a detailed understanding of the dynamic phenomena involved. It is concluded that the TwoLiquidMixingFoam solver in OpenFOAM is effective in simulating immiscible liquid mixtures, accurately capturing the complex dynamics of liquid interaction. Los graficos de convergencia mostraron una tendencia decreciente de los residuos a lo largo del tiempo, indicando que la simulacion alcanzo un estado estable. Las visualizaciones 2D y 3D de los vectores de velocidad y las lineas de corriente revelaron patrones de flujo caracteristicos, proporcionando una comprension detallada de los fenomenos dinamicos involucrados. Se concluye que el solver TwoLiquidMixingFoam del OpenFOAM es eficaz en la simulacion de mezclas de liquidos inmiscibles, capturando detalladamente las dinamicas complejas de la interaccion entre los liquidos.
